Hello and welcome to SR. This is a great place for advice and support. Read around and see if you identify with any of the stories. Post when you like, there's always someone around here to help x
Hey, welcome this is a great place for motivation, strength and support. Use it for all that, and if you need to vent.... it's a fantastic place for that as well.
Its bloody hard work... But well worth it.

Whether we are just starting our recovery
journey or somewhere's in the middle,
maybe we are still on the journey many
years later. It's always comforting to know
we have a place to come to here in SR -
Sober Recovery so we never have to feel
alone on our journey.
I was welcomed many yrs ago and am still
here today giving others hope that staying
sober for a many one days at a time is very
rewarding.
Glad you found SR and hope you find lots
of help from others as they themselves share
their own hopes of what life has been or is
like today, before, during and after addiction.

I blew it. I didn't even make it 24 hours. Today... I kind of talked myself into that this (website) really wasn't that real (I don't know these people that have been responding.... so it was okay to drink ). Sorry, for not taking the words of encouragement that each of you provided to heart .... I am going to try to make it through tomorrow ... I am thankful that there are people who are pulling for you, and have nothing to gain from helping.... thanks
Hi Tacoma. Our disease and alcohol are cunning. I assure you, we are very real as is your disease and it's hold on you. You are in a life or death situation. I'm not blowing this out of proportion. A frighteningly large number of alcoholics die from this. We have found a life raft in the ocean of death. Many of us are clinging to the raft. Some of us have just found the raft and are barely clinging to the side, yet we are there. The people inside the raft are pulling us in but we have to help them. We have to kick our feet and twist and pull ourselves in with their help. With their help, we can pull ourselves in. Then, we must find a firm seat in the raft. The ones who have been in the raft will help us figure out where to sit. Then, we must help the others who are clinging to the raft to get in like we were helped. You'd think with so many people, our raft would fill up yet it doesn't. Instead, our raft grows. The more people who kick and pull and are helped in, the bigger our raft grows until one day you are sitting in the raft and you realize that you can't see the other side. The ocean of death now looks so small to you. It's there but it's nothing compared to the size of your raft. For the people in the ocean, the raft looks small and the ocean immense. It all depends on where you're at. When you're struggling in the ocean, the ocean is all you can think about, all you can see. The raft looks so small. Can it really hold me? But when you get in the raft and stay in it, the larger the raft looks. And when you help someone in from the ocean, the larger the raft looks.
Catch hold of the raft. The people in there will help you figure out how to get in.
