keeping myself accountable
Its day 1. Had stopped for 15 months 15 months ago
Writing this to keep myself accountable and have a record
Didn't really want to stop until recently and started visiting this site again, it really helps me to read everyones experiences here
I know that moderate drinking and me are not a happening thing.
This year feels stagnant and I don't want the rest of my life to be like that. Drinking definitely slows down any forward motion
reasons to stop:
do more than working, going home drinking and going to bed
hopefully become clearer, reduce brain fog
improve health, liver, heart, etc
have the energy to take my dogs for long walks
have the energy to do more cooking
have the energy to get exercise
look better, healthier
loose weight
no hangover

Do it for yourself. The reasons you stated are a good start, but you have to want to quit more than you want to drink.
I was a beaten man when I finally got sober. I couldn't drink and I couldn't stop. I sincerly hope you don't reach that dark place.
Best to you.

Thanks Ghostlight, I do want to quit more than I want to drink, never reached the dark place but medium gray is not where I want to be either, its like walking in sand and not getting anywhere.
I feel really good about this and kind of free, like not burdened by the idea of giving up which I had been. I mean what am I giving up?, um hangovers, spending money on wine, lack of energy, etc. Hello? Its day 2 and so nice to wake up to a crispy morning here with no hangover, just defrosted the hummingbird feeder, those tiny birds are amazing

I'm just approaching 10 months. I agree with everything on your list, but would add some 'biggies' which I have found probably the most motivating:
Experiencing freedom from the slavery of alcohol
Having greater self esteem and confidence
Being more 'present' day-to-day (Hubby says I'm much more alive)
Being less selfish
