I love, love Pugs. Just looking at them makes me happy. I had one and, sadly, lost him in a messy, alcoholic-fueled breakup with my ex two years ago. He's fine but I miss him everyday.

And the quote? My philosophy on life. Or at least most days . You can't control what other people think or do. The only person you have sovereignty over is you.

So this avatar combines two of my favorite things.

Great thread, Zube, thanks. And your story brought tears to my eyes. Thanks also for sharing that...You're an inspiration with your sobriety and outlook.

After my first post on SR on November 1, 2013 I Googled the word "Hope" in images and found this image of a little girl in a darkened place holding a heart balloon. It was very touching because I felt like a scared little girl in a very dark place but knew there was hope and love, even in the darkness. 23 days later, and I love my avatar and the person who is evolving in recovery. Thank you to my SR friends who help me every single day!

"ram's horns"

A West African symbol of humility together with strength.

The ram will fight fiercely against an adversary, but it also submits humbly to slaughter, emphasizing that even the strong need to be humble.

This is my other boy Cubbie, at Halloween! PT, I figured as a pug lover you'd like this. Lol.

OMG Zube, he is precious. And that's coming from one who doesn't like dogs.

(I think if I were forced to own one, it would be a pug. I LOVE their tails.)

Mine reminds me that there is an escape from suffering and that happiness is an inside job.

Mine indicates how I feel some of the time. It's a picture of bi polar (I call it manic depression).

I've wondered about avatars, too. Zube, your story is so poignant and inspirational. Mister is a nice-looking dog and it sounds like the two of you were meant to be.

Enjoying all the stories so far, but want to give a shout-out to Beancounter. Another avatar explanation that enriches us all. I am really proud of you!

Mine? Easy. Hydrangeas are my favorite flower!

Zube! I love Cubbie! He's fabulous. And I used to dress my Pug up for Halloween too. I felt bad but I was also kind of like, "C'mon, if you were made to look like that, there is simply no option but to dress you up in silly outfits to amuse humanity!"

Thankfully, Pugs are normally so good spirited they never seem to mind But they do always wear that "Dude, seriously?!" expression.

Mine is the ever loving always happy Molly, her picture has changed several times through the year, but as she enjoys the season, she has asked for this picture to be set for the next few months!

Ippo - and how do you think Ms. Thang aka Stella would fare with that ?

The introduction alone would be worth the price of admission !!
