A Reward

Over the last seven years of heavy drinking I had gained 80 pounds. This was just a visible result of my abuse to my body. After a trip to the ER, thinking i was having a heart attack, post a heavy night of drinking, I saw a Cardiologist, along with several other Doctors. That night was my last drink, almost sixty days ago. Cardiologist informed me my Cholesterol was 252 and my LDL 161 and plaque in my carotid artery he wanted to put me on meds. I am not a person to take pills everyday and asked him, if your telling me I won't drop dead tomorrow can we try diet and exercise, he agreed to let me try. I have changed my diet, walk 2.5 miles a day and have lost 20 pounds. I learned today after this weeks blood test my Cholesterol is 225 and LDL 149. It's not perfect but this information that I am on the right track is just a little reward to my new life. This withdrawl has not been easy, some days good some bad but today I feel like a winner!

Good for you, and it sounds like you're on the right track for good health.

I have walked miles most days for many years and it helps to keep me sane.
