night two: SUCCESS!

Night two was very different from night one. I actually fell asleep fast, exhausted from the day and last nights minimal sleep; however, I woke up after about an hour and was so awake and alert I felt like I could run for the damn presidency. And this is where the insomnia kicked in. I followed the advice many gave me and eventually just got up and worked around the house. I went back to bed around 2 am and was able to get a few hours in. Man, this is hard work. I've only just finished day two, wow. I must keep in mind--24 hrs at a time. I can do this. The SR community is really helping me. I feel like I have a host of voices in my head, on my side, telling me I can do it. This is making the difference. Today, we have a parent-teacher conference for our first grader and I will not be hungover! Here comes day 3: you are Friday, filled with reasons and excuses, but I will handle you (with some help from my friends).

I recommend the Sober Weekender thread. They are usually a lot of fun.

Well done Malcolm. I am happy you are getting something from being here. This weekend may be a little tough so I think it helps to be prepared for it. Make sure you have plenty of things to do to keep you occupied. Get some early nights . Drink lots of water. Buy some chocolate or ice cream and eat them if you get an urge to drink. Make your sobriety your number one priority for this weekend. Allow yourself to do anything else but DONT drink. Keep posting here over the weekend . Best of luck.

Good for you, Malcolmsloan. I agree with Mecanix -- it's helpful to sign in with the 24-hour class. My own experience is that sharing with classmates has proven very valuable, too. Also, there is a recovery support group on Tuesdays and Fridays. It would be at 6 p.m. your time. It's a great place to share and give and receive support.
