my final pity check in
The road to sobriety and serenity can be long and steep for some of us. August, I hope you find a way to travel that road and reach the mountain top. I'd offer my advise, but I think everyone has pretty much covered it. I can only say that you, like everyone else here, deserve a happy and sober life.
I wish you the best.
I wish you the best.
really wanted to be able to be a part of seeing you succeed! Sad to see you go. My same sentiments are always there, I'm here for you when you need a cheerleader, or friend.
Btw you win in the scar contest
Btw you win in the scar contest
Dennis, sorry if I pushed you it was not the intention. I was trying to articulate that service and becoming part of this community might serve you well and get you out of this victim mindset. Looks like it backfired.
You know I care. I mean I tried to help you outside of this forum when you were in Beantown, your home. We have traded countless PMs but if my post has forced you to leave I am truly sorry.
Your scar and pain seem deep. I can't compare and so I sprint try to understand your situation. If this is your last post, I hope you find the peace and happiness you are looking for.
there is a road, no simple highway...

For me there was always someone who said the wrong thing , did the wrong thing . I ran from the hurt caused , i ran so far i ended up living in a 12ft x 20ft cottage in rural france a mile across green fields from my neighbours .
Hurt still happened , slights were made , frustration pain and anger knocked at my door .
I stopped running , i learned how to deal with stuff and not run and not blast it all away with drink or drugs .
It's possible to achieve this , to deal with all the rubbish life throws at you .
I hope you learn a way to deal with stuff because there will always be someone who upsets you , there will always be pain , hurt and death,
Hope to see you round AW
Bestwishes, m

Seriously Dennis, I hope you read what Mecanix wrote. He is spot on.
Oh AW, I hope you read my post! I have not come clean on SR for the past week or so. Just not ready for the **** storm of well wishes and advice. But that's ok. I won't leave here. At the least, I need to read everyone else's stories. Please at least stay and read. We are all addicts here. No one else will understand you. Sending prayers to AW.
I very much hope you keep checking in. Though I usually don't have much to say I always look for your posts. Life has handed you some tough hands. When I read your posts I tell myself that at least my body is intact so I should count my blessings. The fact that you keep moving and that you're staying sober gives me strength. Again, I hope you keep checking in and you'll be in my thoughts.
Reach out your hand if your cup be empty,
If your cup is full may it be again,
Let it be known there is a fountain,
That was not made by the hands of men.

I think one of the best things about SR is that I can always find someone to lend a hand to and someone who can lend a hand to me. This is not a contest. It is, and always will be, for all of us, a process, and none of us will ever be done with it really until we take our last breath. I believe there will be hours or days for all of us when it will be easy, and then hours or days when it is so hard it is like trying to cut grass with toenail clippers (bad analogy sorry).
It can be really lonely being part of a small subset of a population in this large world that has to grapple with these unique issues. It has helped me so much to be here, I know I am never alone with this struggle. I also know that the people here can appreciate the magnitude of a day of sobriety. August, I hope you stick around. You have been earnest in your daily truths and I believe that people here feel connected to you. It doesn't surprise me that another young guy who is working really hard too wants to keep you moving forward. I believe that is what we all want for you AW.
