Turned 50(!) Yesterday
I am a new member. I turned 50 yesterday, and this is my gift to myself. Been an evening wine drinker for about 10 years. Last May my husband was very ill, nearly died. His brain surgery left him a different man and father. I turned to alcohol to deal with my stress and unhappiness. It seemed like the evening wine bottle got emptier and emptier as the weeks passed. I wake up in the middle of the night filled with self-loathing, guilt, and an overwhelming desire to stop.
So here I am -- DAY 1.

Welcome Daisyq if you are desperate to stop you have found the right place to help you. I am sorry that your life isn't running quite smoothly at the moment but there is a well used saying on here that nothing will seem better or get sorted by using alcohol. You are on the right path and am sure you will not regret it. Please keep us posted .good luck
