Sober 20 years
I have been happily married for 18 years to a hardcore alcoholic who had been sober 2 years before we got together. My question is the past few weeks I have smelled a faint smell of booze and he swears he is not drinking again. Any ideas why I would smell booze if he wasn't drinking? I don't want to be false accusing and I don't nag him about it but is it possible he is lying or is there something I can do to confirm he is not? Help I'm really tore up about this.
to SR! Short of interrogating him I don't know what else you can do. If he swears he's not drinking I'd take him at his word, for now, unless more evidence shows he's not being truthful.
You can’t stop him if he decides he is going to drink. If he is an alcoholic, then this should soon become apparent as he begins to lose control of his drinking. However, for the time being I would not get in a car he is driving.
(Seen on tv that is all)i heard that people with diabetes and low sugar do smell like booze and sometimes even have to pass sobriety tests when pulled over by cops, just an totally random opinion tho, but as the other say, talkin to him is the best solution

Hammer and Carlotta have a good point.
They can also get cranky and moody. My Dad (non drinker) acted a bit like a dry drunk before he got diagnosed with diabetes, belligerent, argumentative. And that's not him!
