New here
Hi all
Am new today and on day one.
I have so much hope for the future and I'm sick and tired of being ruled by this.
I have so much to be grateful for it seems insane to keep continuing a behaviour that is so destructive for me.
Thanks for reading.

That's great to here. Welcome to SR. It is a very tough battle but you can defeat it. We are here to help. It does get easier. I am almost to 2 months and still have the urge sometimes but it is getting easier to stay away from it.
Welcome, nickimat For me, the best part of sobriety is the freedom from obsessing about alcohol. I found that my main cravings came after the first drink, so by resisting that first one, it has been (almost) plain sailing. I do still have problems with addiction per se but I am working on that and using techniques that I've learned about here on SR.
It's a fantastic site. You'll love it

Thanks all. Did wake with a headache, but it wasn't a hangover, so I can't complain.
Day 2 and am making a concerted effort to change habits. Before leaving work read a chapter of 7 Tools to Beat Addiction by Stanton Peale, and that had me driving straight past the bottle shop yay!!
Have to go as Hubbie and I are renovating the master bathroom so there's tiling to do!
Domt know if I'm doing this right, but do feel that just checking in is what I need. Hope that's OK.
Thanks for kind words everyone - I'm using an app I don't quite like so can't see anyone's names while I'm typing, so apologies for not mentioning everyone by name.
Photography and videography is a great love and I have a feeling that's going to be helping me a lot.
