Invitation to Non-AA's to join the secular group!

Hello! For a slightly shorter list of people to get to know... I invite non AA people to join the secular group. You do not have to be an atheist, but if you enjoy and benefit from other programs, or just find AA didn't work for you, please check it out and lets get a class of Nov 2013 started for us! I tried 4 AA groups, and found the the opening and closing statements clashed with my religious principles, which I love and find distinct from my battle with addiction. I do like the secular 12 steps, which I would be able to complete, while the traditional 12 steps I cannot. However, I found other programs really helped me and I am now doing well. I was taught to reward myself for any steps on the path to recovery, and had to learn for myself that one drink is too many and all the alcohol in the world not enough for me. However, I did not count each slip as failure... Now I just know not to have even one drink, 'cause my brain has changed, and I no longer can!!

I am non AA although I went along with it at the beginning because I was ordered to do just that or lose my kids. These secular steps sound interesting. I don't know of them. However, I just went ahead and invented my own. It was a long process and took a while to figure out, but they work for me and I've been sober for ten years.

Not sure what Fozzy has in mind, but if you guys want to start a thread in this forum based around secular recovery, that would be fine :)

Count me in too please! Always wanted to attend AA but the religious aspect put me off. My HP isn't the traditional path. Just let me know when!
