Hi Tiger04
So do I. (have an addict daughter that is)
This is what we did:
1. Got her private counseling- didn't work
2. Moved her out of her dorm to home while she finished her education - didn't work
3. Monitored and controlled her every movement- didn't work
4. Told her she was going to inpatient treatment or we were dropping her off at the homeless shelter. It worked.
I know telling your child she will be homeless is risky and radical but I was serious and she knew it. I was done enabling her to use drugs.
She is sober 70 days today, the longest stretch of time in years. She goes to AA meetings daily, she got a crappy job but shows up every day, is paying us rent, and hasn't had a tantrum in weeks.
Am I hopeful this is the end of it- YES. Do I understand it may not be- YES. Am I ready to throw her out if she relapses- YES.
Get tough. Get strong. Get ready for a fight. Keep coming back.
