Today …

Sometimes there are things in your life you never think you'll do .

Once upon a time i could never envisage not drinking , the thought of never drinking again seemed horrendous .

These days the thought of having even one drink seems horrifying and the potential follow on a disaster. I wish this clarity to continue and can't envisage a situation in which it would seem like a good idea .

The personal power and freedom sobriety brings is awesome. I have become far more open and can see things i could never see before, personal limitations i'd set by pursuing a drinking life . The obsession , the rush , the short term nature of my decisions and the vision i had of me and my life.

What i'm trying to say in a rather long winded way is that i've just enrolled to the open university and am going to start working my way towards being Dr mecanix the engineer . It's going to be a long road, i don't know if i'm going to make it . There is only one way to find out …

Lets do this thing ,

Bestwishes, m

Wow M...that's amazing.

There really are no limits other than the ones we set ourselves are there? Sobriety just brings so many new opportunities our way.

So pleased and happy for you

Good stuff mecanix! I've been accepted at uni twice in my life so far... Both times it ended because of my drinking (bottom line). I'm sure you'll succeed, root in' for ya! Enjoy! Maybe for me it'll be 3rd time lucky, or 3rd time sober!

Good for you Mecanix.
What kind of engineer? I love watching those engineering shows, how things are made. Being sober I find I can focus on things much better and complete tasks. I hope you enjoy what you learn.

Love

So cool to read this...and Dr. Mecanix sounds awesome!

I was just thinking today how small addiction makes your world and, after you get some sober time under your belt, how much more you see and, hopefully, are once again willing to participate in. Talk about pulling back a curtain in a dark room...

Thanks for the inspiration, M, as always. You are a rock star in so very many ways already, this pursuit will be no different

Hey Cai ,
I'm not sure yet , you do a foundation module first and then choose more specialist and complex units . I work in the electrical and automation field at the moment , i fix and program things like 2.5 MW generators down to solar panels, radio, telecommunications equipment , radar , ultrasonics , level & flowmeters

I think electrical or some kind of digital specialisation would suit .. i'll just get through it one day at a time and see where it takes me ..

Bestwishes, m

Really? Based on all of the available evidence, I'm having a hard time imagining why you wouldn't.

Good for you, M!

It's really amazing how high you can fly without that millstone around your neck, huh? Sky's the limit!

I think you will do well, Mech, seems like you have a pretty good head on your shoulders.
