15 years binge drinking
Hey there!
Just wanted to join this forum for some info and advice.
I have been 15 years a binge drinker and recently drinking over to fall and hurt myself although not intentionally just have no 'off' button when it comes to drinking!
I want to start fresh from today and see if I can actually start to live sober life.
I don't want to end up dead from my alcohol intake and although I have not been to Dr's for Liver tests etc, I last drank on the weekend and am now experiencing pains in my sides, so time to be T Total I think

Hi mishp and welcome. The vast majority of us here don't have the off button!! I never drank daily but when I did drink I made up for lost time! Personally I had to break some pretty ingrained habits ie it's Friday I have worked all week therefore I now drink! But I have found that once you break and replace the habit sobriety becomes easier. Some of the benefits of sobriety will happen overnight ie no hangovers ,some others will take longer.
I think it is important you are patient and give sobriety a chance to show how good a life it can provide. I am sure you will pick up lots of advice on here and I hope you get as much inspiration from here as I do. Good luck and keep posting

Thank you fpr your replies. I don't normally experience symptoms so I am worried a bit I have finally done some damage. I will book in with Dr and see if I can get a liver test etc.
I have tried before to stop drinking but it has only been for a couple of weeks at a time, this time I am determined, so I will keep checking back for information and advice and inspiration!

Thank you, sick note! its a lot of falling over and hurting myself and filled with regret and guilt and my poor boyfriend having to put up with this behaviour, so time to do something about it, it seems like a big/impossible challenge at times but sure can do it if determined enough!

I am also a binge drinker, not a daily drinker. I thought I was unique until I read through many threads here. It's comforting to know my behavior is not unique to me and that others have struggled and overcome the same alcoholism patterns I have suffered from.
