Day 2

I am two days sober...I make it to a week or so and then pick up again. I know that this is serious stuff...life and death...What do I do until I am able to choose life?

to SR! You just don't pick up that first drink. Don't drink a day at a time. Repeat the next day. There are lots of recovery programs out there (AA is the most well known but there are others) and you might try one of them. I found counseling to be of great help to me in getting and staying sober.

Hello, and welcome.

I agree you'll find lots of support here, so feel free to post as often as you like.

I drank like you at the start. But my drinking steadily grew until I was drinking most days.
I know how you're feeling. Give it a week and start feeling better, look better, hangover is gone. Time to drink again!
I went through this cycle until the days got closer and closer together. Before long I was a full blown alcoholic and finding it impossible to stop.

What helps me, is remembering how I felt after drinking. The remorse, anxiety and fear.
It took me a long time to become an alcoholic and it took me a long time to unlearn that behavior.
You'll find lots of sobriety here. And people acheiving it in different ways.

It's nice to have you here, and best to you.
