Mother of an alcoholic son

My son is in rehab and doing well; so proud if him. I am a social drinker and although I will not drink in front of him I find myself feeling guilty having drinks w friends. Anyone else feel that way and how do u handle it?

to SR! No need to feel guilty. If alcohol isn't a problem for you and you won't drink around your son, I see no need to worry about it. All the best to you and your son.

You may want to look at our friends and family forum for more insight.

My parents have been members of Al-Anon for years until my father passed away. My Mom still attends. They'd get together with other members and go out for dinner. They usually had a few sociables.

If we have family events they'd have a few sociables. They don't have a drinking problem, I did. The world doesn't have to stop Using alcohol just because I can't drink safely.
