Eric you can totally do it. I've been sober since Dec 27 2012. I bartend and right now I'm a shot girl. I was drinking a fifth a day last year I lived in Vegas and drank heavily for about 15 years. I was not only mentally addicted to alcohol I was physically addicted. I did take 3 months off from work when I quit. But It gets easier. I do not go to AA never have, I use mediation and yoga. I do worry about your friends getting sober with you though. Its really a battle best done on a personal level, not as a group. It can be easier to relapse when a friend does, it makes it seem ok. Worry about yourself and only yourself first. good luck. I just found this site and will be on regularly. If you want to chat.
