Take this anxiety away, PLEASE!!!!

I feel like I don't know which way I am going. This is by far the worst day of anxiety I have had so far (I am at day 16 of sobriety). I want to curl into a ball and stay there until this passes, but I can't. I am at work (I'm a librarian) and it is WAY TOO quiet in this little old building. I feel like I am going to go insane.

It will pass. Try to stop giving your mental state so much attention. It's common in early recovery (part of withdrawal). I viewed it as a mental trick my addiction was trying to pull on me to make me drink, because I knew drinking would make it go away, if for a little while.

Go work on your stacks. Dust some shelves. Distract yourself.

Sixteen days is too many to throw away for anxiety.

It will pass and you'll feel better, trust me.
I went through some times where I thought I was going to have a nervous break down.
But, day by day things improve quite quickly.

Maybe you can refocus that anxiety on some reading for now.
And make a nice cup of tea with chamomile.

Kids will help, right? I have anxiety, and children always distract me from inside my head. Good luck!

Sometimes kids can teach us adults some things that we forgot over the years.
Enjoy.
