Does this count as day 1?

Hey my name is Brian and I'm an alcoholic. As some of you know, I'm a chronic relapser. I was doing good for a while, but for the last 4 days I've been on a pretty big binge. One that ended with one of those nice ambulance rides I was just reading some others here refer to. I took my last drink at 8 am. It's 1030 pm now, does this count as day 1? I went to an AA meeting and got my last drink poker chip. Plan on going to AA again tomorrow. I feel like I hit my last bottom. I've seen so many I want to stop digging and start climbing. Today I asked a gentleman to be my sponsor. This was a big step because I've been going to AA for a while but never had a sponsor. I am so done with drinking.

I think one day would be 24 hours so tomorrow at 8:00 am but by the sounds of it you will have no problem getting there!

Good luck!

Hello fellow Hoosier! I would consider it day one tomorrow morning but I wouldn't get too worried about when it's "official". You made the decision not to drink today (post 8 AM) and that's what is really important. Well done!

Are there 14 1/2 hours in a day, or 24?

Long as you're not drinking it will all work out.

For me, I did not start counting until all the alcohol was out of my system.

Guess you could call tomorrow Day 1 and 1/2.

Either way, congratulations on getting sober Brian!

Some folks count from the day of the last drink, others count from the next day.

You can canvass opinions at your next meeting, or if you have a sponsor ask their advice?

i'm not really good at rules, but if you want to call today day one, and you stay sober tomorrow, I say mark you calendar and call today your day!

have you signed in on the 24 hour thread? that's a great place to post and hold yourself accountable.

good luck, you can do this!
