Anyone have good or bad experiences with anti depressants? I cannot think or focus for long periods, and if I try to quit taking I cannot get out of bed. Any advice?

I suggest you see your doctor. Maybe your meds need to be tweaked or changed. There are many different anti-depressants out there and each person reacts differently to each of them. Sometimes it's trial and error until you find the one that works for you and has the fewest side-effects. Your doctor can help you with that.

See your doctor!
I've had some very bad experiences with some, and some great ones with others.

Definitely see your Dr, ach.

this is an issue you've had for a while - we can share our experiences sure, but the real way forward for you I think is to discuss your problem with your prescribing physician.

What's a long period to you?

Acheleus 10-24-2013 05:22 PM

I cannot focus for even ten minutes. My brain feels tinkered with, but I like walking and feeling my body get better. Glad to be sober 26 days though. The meds calm me down but I feel dull.

Do see your doctor about this. As Suki said, there are many different meds out there and sometimes you just have to try more than one.

Congrats on twenty six days sober! :)

It took ages after I stopped drinking to feel like I was thinking normally again. I was recently switched from Prozac to Wellbutrin. Both worked well, but my Doctor said sometimes change them up.

I felt completely normal but less depressed while on them. Zero bad experience. Also remember them taking 30 days to start working so unsure how you seem to have such a quick reaction.

10 minutes focus doesn't sound too awful versus being bedridden. Is that focusing on something you like to do, dislike, or either?

ETA: I dunno man, you seem awfully manic to me sometimes, maybe that thing you call dull is what normal brains feel like all the time...
