Physical changes since becoming sober
There have been many but recently I noticed my face starting to return to normal and the bloating subsiding. I didn't notice it until yesterday when I looked in the mirror and smiled back at myself.
A lot that Marcher mentioned but I think the best thing is my emotions and moods are more stable, I seem able to bounce back from negative moods more easily.
I am 59 and cycle everywhere, I am giving serious thought to a cycling holiday.

This is an awesome thread. I'm sober 5 days and have started to notice I'm much more expressive in my body gestures and in my face. I don't have this sunken, sullied look on my face anymore. Plus I feel more comfortable talking to people because I know they can't smell the booze on me anymore.

2 weeks tomorrow for me! So far, my physical changes have included:
1. brighter, more clear eyes
2. healthier skin
3. I used to feel nauseous from about 10-4 every day, and now I feel normal all day long.
4. better sleep
5. I definitely smell better, too!

After 60 days my skin is better and my hair is darkening up a little bit again. Still mostly gray, but it was noticeable after my haircut today. It has happened before when I quit for several months. Weird, I know.

I've noticed that when I brush my hair, there isn't tons of it on the brush anymore! Didn't realise that it was drinking that was causing it, until yesterday. Took me 10 years to grow my hair to this length, so NO WAY am I drinking again.
Nearly 7 months:
No more yellow, natural colour has returned.
No more painful, swollen abdomen.
Can eat now and eat healthily
Lungs no longer filled with fluid so breathing much improved
Sleep 7-8 hours a night and but for some weird dreams, feel rested
Energy levels better than for years! Can even go a day without napping!
Fog finally lifting. Feeling of mental disorientation gone
Moods much more even.
Shaking, twitching, uncontrollable tears and paranoia GONE
Can stand to look at myself and am tempted to say
You are alright Mister G

Blotchiness gone . Blood pressure normal. No more sore teeth, no mystery bruises. No more VOMITTING ( i hated that part the most )
No more waking up with a racing heart, especially lying on the pillow next day ...pounding thru the pillow. No more impending doom , twitching legs and lying perfectly still hungover feeling like I'm going to stroke out or seize. I'm sure there is more.
Wth would i ever want to drink again with a list like this ! Good thread thanks
