Well last night was a very bad night indeed. When I drink heavily, I have these fits in bed where I scream all kinds of obscenitie, throw myself out of bed, I have knocked over furniture, gave myself numerous black eyes, and I don't remember a thing. . Last night around 1am, I woke up to him doing it. He doesn't remember a thing.
What is that? Am I having. Seizure?

Sounds like one of those things that would signal a normal person to stop whatever they are doing to cause it. Like drinking. I knew people that pissed the bed once a week and kept drinking all the time. Pretty crazy the stuff people will put aside because they are blinded by addiction.
Rum fits.
Raider, you are scaring the tar out of me. You are playing Russian roulette every time you take a drink. It's affecting your brain and neurological responses.
Jesus Christ. Go get some help. Now. Please.

Raider I am going to echo AO here. I am not sure exactly what is going on from your post above but it is scary. Are you having these fits or is your husband? Both of you?
I saw your posts from last night and it seemed both of you were drinking.
Please, please get yourself some help, Pam. As others have said, your posts are always so sweet and supportive of others and you need to expend some of that effort on yourself now. We're here but only you can get you into rehab.
Things WILL look very different with a few days sober time under your belt, as hard as that is to believe right now.
Please take care of you. Do not drink any more, no matter what. If you have to put yourself in the hospital via the ER to prevent that, then do so. Those things you describe are scary. Way too scary to be messing around with.
Thinking of you and sending you lots of love and good vibes...

Aren't Rum Fits another word for DTs? And in that sense one wouldn't get them unless one was abstaining from alcohol, instead of another wasted night like you are describing.
It sounds to me like you need not figure out at all what they are - they are horrible for you, and preventable = you need help now, like everyone is saying.
I hope you get some, and soon.

I'm very scared. I had no idea. I'm such a bafoon, I thought I had a sleep disorder. What is wrong with me? I have had these for some time. Last night, my husband had one. He may have them all the time, I don't know. Sadly we very rarely sleep together. I will call back the rehab. I'm scared.
You are an alcoholic, that is what is wrong. And you are an untreated one that is still drinking. The longer you keep drinking the worse things will get. It's a very simple equation actuallly. Drink - get worse. Stop drinking, get better.
The ER is certainly an option if you can't get into rehab today. Nothing will get better until you stop drinking though, and it's very clear that you can't stop drinking without intervention at this point.
