Newcomers forum is a good place to start. You'll find lots of other forums specific to certain subjects, like friends and family of addicts, mental health, smoking forum, etc, and the Café at the bottom for jokes and things not related to recovery.

Look around and post where you'd like. Tell us a little about yourself if you want to. What brought you here? We'd like to help.

Hi Lovemyself! Welcome to SR...you'll find some pretty amazing, kind, helpful and very non-judgemnntal people here. If I were you, to start out I would do the following...

1. Tell as much of your story as you can. The more people know about you, the more people can relate to your particular problems. You will get advice from people who have similar issues.

2. Tell us about your plan for recovery. Are you trying or going to try AA? Rehab? Or do you need help putting a plan together.

3. What are your hopes and dreams for your life once you become sober?

That should be plenty to get you lots of support and help here. Glad that you found us!

I am new here as well. Welcome! I found it helpful to go through the forum and pick titles I could relate to. I spent a lot of time reading the posts and what struck me is how compassionate and supportive everyone here is. It also reaffirmed to me that I was in the right place.
