One year sober!

Today i am 1 year sober. This time last year i was in a terrible place. This addiction had completely taken over my life and i ended up in the hospital through drinking. I was absolutely desperate to stop and get my life back on track. I made a decision the morning after i was admitted to hospital to get sober and work at my recovery. It was the most important decision i think i will ever make.

Today i feel a freedom and peace that i didn’t think was possible. It has been hard work and there have been many ups and downs. It’s all been worthwhile though.

To anyone who is struggling please don’t ever stop trying. Trust the people who tell you that it's possible and that a life of sobriety is better. It's all true.

Many thanks to everyone on SR for all of the support i have received. I find so much inspiration on here and you have all helped me more than you will ever know.

Hayley I've already congratulated you in chat, but you are such a good friend to me and the struggling newcomers on SR that you deserve a big:

CONGRATULATIONS HAYLEY86, AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

p.s. thank you for recommending Drinking: A Love Affair, the best alcohol related book I have ever read. May this next year be better than you have ever known before.
