The Fly
I'm laying here detoxing and what comes on? "The Fly" starring Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. He's starting to look just like I feel. I think I even resemble him a little.
I want to give up smoking too, but I have been told to not attempt that yet. Thoughts on this? One fellow I spoke on the phone with said that if I want to relapse, then give up everything at once. He said get 60 days sober, then try throwing away the smokes. He said if I try doing that now I'll become a candidate for a mental hospital. I've never gone 60 days without a drink.

I am still trying to find the courage to stop the cigarettes – I seem to continue to postpone that.
I think it is depends on the person whether it could be done at once.
I have stopped cigarettes for a couple of years, couple of times in the past. I did not drink coffee or beer for months when I could not smoke – I could not see the point of that.
I have a plan now for quiting, but I do not even have the courage to write it down

Hi Michael. Eww - not recommended viewing for a detoxing person.
I never smoked, but I think giving up 2 addictions at once would be overwhelming. Dee's reasoning makes sense though. I also agree that it's an individual choice. Proud of you for making these huge changes in your life.
