Getting through special occasions!

I had a thought today, I am only 5 days into not drinking, I thought about all the times I would say, oh I will stop after the 4 of July, or after labor day or after the wedding I am going to. All those events mean drinking to me. And when I think back on the past ones I can remember a drunk time. Not to proud of most of them. But next year. I will be able to remember each event as a sober event. How nice that will be.

Five days IS a big deal! Congratulations to you! I agree that it will be great to experience a lot of formerly alcohol soaked events sober. I know, for instance, that Thanksgiving will be stressful. But I keep thinking how nice it will be to wake up on Friday morning NOT hungover and NOT fed up with all the house guests just because I need a nap!

Congratulations again and enjoy the perks of being sober!

Im only on day 5. I find it extremely easier not looking soo far ahead... I like signing into the 24 hour club. Just look forward to being alcohal free for the next 24 hours. Its helping me.

Oh i guess i didnt really answer your question.. But i guess I will look forward to actually being able to remember those special occasions.

I'm always harping about self fulfilling prophesy, or seeing your future in a positive light, seeing yourself where you want to be. It's such a powerful way to help ensure that your life stays on track. It's great that you visualize yourself sober in the year to come. Congratulations on 5 days!
