Welcome, Benat! There are a lot of approaches to try, but what has worked for me is AVRT. Google it, I can't link it here. The 'crash course' will only take you twenty minutes and it's free. To be honest, it's all I've needed...and I just celebrated 1 year sober yesterday. If it doesn't work you're out nothing but a few minutes of your time.

Good luck on your quest!

The last few battles have been failed attempts, and demotivating. Im sure as a lot of people have stated, you half to change your life style completely. I never did that before, I always tried to keep my drinking friends and stay sober around them..which never worked. Holidays are bad for me to, people in my family like to drink during holidays or family functions..and then that voice says "just one wont hurt, quit officially tomorrow" and then that one drink turns into a 3 days bender. So this time around I am being very vocal that I have a problem, to my family and friends. Today (Saturday) is usually the hardest out of the week for me, so I think I will go to a meeting to keep my mind from racing

Have a good weekend everybody!

Awesome insight, benat! It took me nine years to finally be ready to change my lifestyle. Continue to be honest, patient and KIND to yourself! If you pick up, don't beat yourself up. Sobriety is not easy, but you're in an awesome place! Congrats on taking initiative and going to a meeting! xo

I hear you. I had the same problem for years. My family still offers me a beer when I over to visit. My friends still don't get why I can't just have one beer. I never started drinking coffee. When someone offers me a cup I say I don't drink coffee. I'm adopting that attitude towards drinking. No thanks, I don't drink alcohol. If I say it long enough, eventually it will become true.

Hang in there Benat.
