30 days sober!
30 days sober!
Hello all! I am 30 days sober today! It has been quite the month as I have started my sober journey through difficult and amazing times. A few weeks back, I posted a list of all the things I'm thankful for sober and I thought now would be a good time to repost and add some things to that list for inspiration.
Things I'm able to enjoy with my new sobriety:
I am so thankful to have found this great community full of amazing people. I hope this list can serve as inspiration to those here who are just starting their sober journey. I know I'm still early in my journey and I'm amazed at how much I have gained already! May we all stay strong, dedicated and sober!
Things I'm able to enjoy with my new sobriety:
- Clearer head and better focus
- Sleeping through the night without waking up sweaty, sick and thirsty
- Not waking up to the neighbor starting his truck every morning
- Feeling refreshed in the morning
- Improved control over my emotions
- Restored interest in my hobbies
- Enjoying my new home theater equipment
- Riding my bike again and working back up to 30 mile rides
- Normal bowel movement schedule
- Renewed appetite and appreciation for food
- Improved vision
- Not having to keep the AC at 70 to avoid sweating
- Not breaking into a sweat for no reason
- Substantial reduction in anxiety and depression
- Stable hand and improved handwriting
- No longer hiding from friends and loved ones
- Improved skin tone and whiter eyes
- No longer worrying about co-workers smelling alcohol on me from the night before
- Cooking dinner for myself every night and enjoying my grill
- Having people tell me I'm like my old self again
- Restored sense of humor and goofiness
- Smiling
- Remembering what I have watched on TV and said on phone calls / texts
- Enjoying a clean and relaxing home
- Having full and productive weekends
- Being able to share my alcoholism with close friends for support
- Remembering to actually brush my teeth at night
- Clean sheets
- Organized clothes and folded shirts
- Shopping for new clothing
- Renewed desire to leave the house
- Disposable income and organized finances
- Starting my 30s clean and sober
- Enjoying the great company and support of the SR community!

Congrats on the 30 days I loved your list. Thanks also for the insight into your bowel movements. LOL
But seriously I was told early in sobriety that although we think that when we were drinking and eating healthily it wasn't too bad but the truth is because of our heavy drinking our bodies weren't absorbing the nutrition from our food.

Sounds like you are on the right track! Just be wary of the "I got this thing kicked, I can let my guard down, maybe even have just one or two" trap going forward, and you will have many great days to come.
I am happy for you nice list!
(where do I learn this "organized and folded clothes" thing? lol)
