Hello all
I don't suppose I have much to say - I haven't logged in for over a year.
I turn 32 in a few months and am (and have been for quite some time now) an alcoholic. I am coming off a year or so of drinking too much over the weekend (which somehow is defined as Thursday through Sunday for me in terms of drinking) and feeling horrible and then stopping for a few days until I begin to feel good again - so good that a few beers seems like it is just the ticket!
I can't do it anymore, I don't want to do it anymore. I sweat when eating, I'm 25 pounds overweight, I completely lack discipline at almost everything, with the major exception being the discipline and effort I put into maintaining the image that I'm not an alcoholic to my wife and family.
There is so much I put into the illusion and front... I want that energy, that life for ME, not busy slaving away to the monster inside me=X
Today is Day 1.

Reed, taking the first step is the hardest. You are young and have a family, which means you have great potential. Don't beat yourself up for the mistakes you made. Take it one day at a time and be prouder and prouder of yourself. Read as much as you can about alcoholism and the process of recovery. Coming back after a year is a very good sign.
I'm 56 and have stopped three times in the past three years. I made the two week mark yesterday. I need to make it through the end of November and then want to see if I can make it through the holidays and the end of the year. This group has helped me see some of my blind spots and weaknesses.
I'm keeping with it. Give it your best shot too, OK?

duane1 - I don't really have a plan; though I am thinking that I need one. Too many times I have made an effort to quit and it hasn't lasted more than a few days.
I am currently looking through the threads here on suggestions for a good plan; I know that this site is a great resource, so I thought I would start with coming back and posting.
Thanks!
