Hi.

I'm not an addict. My husband is. He's been clean for eight years. The problem now is video gaming he spends anywhere from 12 to 18 hours a day. We're currently separated because I kept attacking his addiction. I'm here to read and for support.

Hi. I can relate. While I'm primarily an alcoholic I can pretty easily get addicted to many things including gaming. In fact gaming is a trigger for drinking so I stopped that too. It's basically an escape from reality just like drinking and in my case it made me feel powerful when I lacked power in the real world. I don't have any advice other than to agree it's an addiction that probably has underlying psych reasons.

I love my husband very much and I want him in recovery. But I know I can't do it for him. The best thing I could do for both of us was leave.
