Day 1

I'am new to this. I never thought I had a problem with alcohol/other substances. I have been seeing how they are affecting me, my job, my relationships. I'am looking for help and been searching here on the forums a bit. I have no idea where to start or what to do. The idea of becoming sober. Well is honestly very nerve racking to me. Hopeing for a good outcome from this. Also sorry if this is posted in the wrong area

Welcome Kizzer49. You've landed in a really great forum. I've been here for 2 days and it's helped tremendously. I'm 5 days clean and physically I'm better, mentally it's a struggle. My drug of choice is any kind of opiate I could find. Can I ask what you're getting off of and are you just going cold turkey?

Kizzer, welcome. I do not do chat, but I think I have seen people mention that there is an app for it.

Hi Kizzer

there's an app for that - google 'Sober Recovery' and 'app' and you'll find it in Itunes and all the usual places

welcome aboard

Kizzer! I am a newbie/oldbie and it is a lifelong commitment. "once a pickle never again a cucumber" they say; so true.

Pleased to meet you Kizzer! This is a great place to be - you are not alone. Some people never realize what drinking is doing to them - I'm glad you want a better life for yourself. You can do it.

Welcome to SR, Kizzer. I drank 8-10 drinks a day for 20+ years. I joined SR 34 days ago and have managed to stay sober since then, thanks largely to the supportive, helpful people here. The people here truly "get" what you are going through. Good luck. I am glad you are here with us.

Hi, Kizzer. You have definitely come to the right place. Like you, I found the whole idea of quitting to be pretty scary. Terrifying, actually. But in reality life got so much easier once I jumped off that hamster wheel of addiction, day after day, spinning from desire to regret. It was exhausting! I know it's a leap of faith, but ask anyone here—it's totally worth it. You really can do this!
