Hi InsaneHeart, I had a plan. I do not drink. Everything else from that point was learning to live and recover from alcohol.
You sound like you have the determination and grit.
Stick with it, the rewards are great and no more day 1's.

So I've done this twice before...I mean, really tried to stay sober. I quit once for 2 months and once for 3 months. I made the mistake of thinking that I could handle a drink or two, but I absolutely cannot. One or two drinks leads right back to drinking a six pack every day.
I've decided to do things differently. I'm going to go to AA every week. I say every week because I live in a really rural, small town and there is only one meeting a week here. I will be on SR every day, and I will read personal stories out of the big book every day. Most of all I need to retrain my brain to believe the fact that I can't ever take one more drink.

I may go to meetings one day, but right now my anxiety won't allow it. I've got 4 severe mental disorders and I literally feel sick at the thought of sharing my vulnerabilities with other people in a room.
I can do it here because I'm anonymous, but not in real life...not yet.

Glad your personal investigation of the Big Book is going well. x
That's great. I shall be thinking of you. It's not easy to go into your very first meeting, but once there it can be such a welcoming and supportive feeling.
Do you know what to expect when you go there? x

There is a good thread somewhere on what to expect at your first AA meeting - I'll try to find it and put the link here for you. It does help to know what to expect I think. On the meeting details online, does it have a meeting description / name. There are different formats
Thanks for the encouragement Beccy!
I just started school full time...I was feeling overwhelmed the first two weeks because I haven't been in school since high school many moons ago. I think I might finally be getting the hang of it. Organization was key. I have all my tasks with their due dates in Outlook so I can check them off as I go. I promised myself I would quit drinking once school started, but I was so frustrated that I thought the binging was helping. Dumb. I hope I can keep on this track because I really can't have my schoolwork suffering.

You can do this H. Dig deep and envision what you want to get out of tomorrow... you want to wake up without the hung-over alcohol fog. Get there by not drinking today. If you drink today, you will wake up tomorrow and feel like crap...again, so make sure you just don't drink today.
You've had some sober time under your belt so you know the drill. Stay strong and life is so much better.
Reach out to us before you drink again. When you are feeling weak, give us a chance to help talk you out of drinking.
You deserve to get your life back.

I didn't even give the AA meeting a chance. The people are really nice, and they all gave me their phone numbers. Told me to call day or night. I just feel so dumb.
I will not drink today...I have to take this 24 hours at a time.
