Wishing my life away

I was reading some stuff from people sober for a year or so and thinking to myself how great it must be and how I wish I could be one year on from now! Then I stopped and thought what am I thinking! I am 15days off the beer ,I wake up every morning without hangover,I have loads more energy,I think in a logical and organised way, nothing is too much for me,nothing seems a problem,I am so much more optimistic and content. If I feel like this then I should revel in the now enjoy every day for what it is . I think sobriety is my reward.

A nice thought and a positive start to the day if I may say so!

That reminds me of something an old mate said to me:

"There's no better high than being sober".

He was right, too.

Cheers for the reminder man.

Great post! Yup, sobriety is indeed it's own reward...just like the present. I too have been guilty of living my life either backwards or forwards. It actually blows my mind how little time I have spent in the here and now. I have always been waiting for something to come along or some "if only" goal or possession achievement to fix everything. Ya, I will be happy then. It is really really cool to work on the being happy now rather than then...but sometimes it takes some roll up your sleeves work to change perspective in and on any given situation. And that's quite alright.

Congrats on your 15 days in sobriety..and the present : )

Your doing great. I love the "Be here Now" perspective. Tomorrow never comes so enjoy how well you feel. Keep moving forward!

Toffee - great points. Isn't mental clarity wonderful? Someone on SR has this saying as their tagline, "Sobriety delivers everything that alcohol promised." Isn't that the truth?
