'No Dramas'
'No Dramas'
On day 20 and was on the phone with the other half. He was telling me he was impressed that I've got to almost 3 weeks and it was good as there'd been 'no dramas' over this period. Mixed emotions on hearing that but definitely a swift kick up the backside to the voice inside my head saying ' a glass of wine is fine'.
Me too, Dee, although I think mine was more like the Maury Povich show a lot of times...(don't know if you have that one in Oz...it's not exactly one of America's finer cultural exports )
Ah yes, that lovely cycle: drink/drama/chaos/drink/drama/chaos...rinse, repeat.
To others, i.e. those who don't drink or who drink normally, this cycle is insane. So your boyfriend's response, nightswimming, is pretty typical.
I thought after I gave up the wine that my life would be so BORING without the drama and chaos. And for a little bit, it was. Now? I wouldn't trade my "boring" sobriety for even five minutes of that hell drinking again.
Good on you for three weeks! Keep going, it gets better and better...

Thanks guys.
We've got a soap here in Scotland called River City (not sure it's made it far outside Glasgow, let alone any further!) that some of my drinking chaos could have made it into a few episodes.
It wasn't really until I really made the decision to stop this time that I realised how many times I've been round the cycle over the years and how my brain has been able to conveniently forget and cover it up for so long.
Quite enjoying waking up on a weekday morning at the moment knowing that the craziest thing I've done is to read an extra chapter or two of my book before going to sleep!
