Even a single day out, I'm feeling better about myself. I definitely have a lot of healing to do, but hearing from all of you is making the biggest difference. The 'friends' had the following to say: "you seemed content." and "this is just a lack of self control." At least they're making it easy to take plenty of time and space away from them and to seek more positive influences and relationships.

You are not a bad person -- do not feel shame. The people who took advantage of you are the bad people. Wanting love is a great thing as you know that although we love alcohol it does not love us back...so reject it along with those people that put you in a bad place. Here you will find that we all have stories of regret and mis-adventure, and we are all united in that we know it is NOT us...but rather an alcohol distorted version of us.
