I hear you, I felt like this yesterday. Breaking down the day helps me... get to lunch, then through the afternoon, then to bed. Your drinking does not define you unless you let it. You are bigger, tougher, meaner and stronger than your addiction. Every time that irritating little voice creeps into your brain your willpower is going to knock it out of the room. You can do it.

I myself (and speak only for me) wouldn't get far with this approach.

I can drink myself to death if I so choose. Thing is, I CHOOSE not to drink and it doesn't suck one little bit. It's freaking awesome.

So glad you got on through a crave. They hijack your sense when they hit.

I've found that the faster I shut that little sucker down the better. When it creeps in I no longer mull the concept (of having a couple) over. That's what allows the rationalizing to start. I just put it right out of my head with a firm "no way, bad idea!" And move on.

Yeah, I've never woken up and said "damn, I would kill for a hangover right now"...

Good on you for riding it out, mate.

Personally I find it helpful to think of the last time I decided to drink and the guilt, shame and self hatred that went along with it. So far this and sharing on SR is working for me.
