Phases in recovery - #3 irritability

Well I don't know if it is any sort of stage let alone #3! But today (day 26) and yesterday my level of irritability - bordering on rage at times - is a bit scary. I have prepared my partner as I have had to bite my tongue a few times rather than rant at her over nothing in particular. I have a few chores to do today and I am feeling angry just contemplating them!

I am sure this is just part of recovery, though I do find myself wonderin what generates such irrational feelings.

On the VERY positive side - as I said - 26 days! Close to a month!! Yay!

All the best to everyone in their early days!

I'm not sure there's always a situational cause and effect mentium - have you read about PAWs at all?

Yes I have, though I am not a fan of the term. Readjustment seems to take a while and I am content to wait it out..uncomfortable though it is at times!

I gotta say - it really helped explain to me what the eff was happening around the 30 day mark but yeah sorry - I forgot you're not really into the concept.

in short - things get better

maybe try and think of the things you should be grateful for - that helped me too

It took six months for my emotions to get on an even keel. I was already having "outbursts" when I was drinking- they were getting worse. Overall there was a steady improvement- hang in there.

Over time I saw that in retrospect I was being hollowed out emotionally by my drinking. I could not see it at the time.

Anger in search of a target. That’s what I call it. I still get it from time to time. Personally it helps to recognize and keep in mind that the source of it is within me. If I can do this it helps reduce damage to innocent bystanders.
