Would this be considered PAWS ?

I have been noticing a physical phenomenon that I attribute to my liver dumping stored toxins periodically.

I'll go a few days and feel quite well physically. Then for a few days, the engine starts to roar. I wake up with slight nausea, dizziness, and a gurgling in my liver area. I will also experience a dull ache in my upper right quadrant. Slight all over body aches and a general feeling of malaise. I also notice a (and I'm am really sorry for the grossness of this) a distinct odor fecally that resembles moth balls or bleach. This is not all the time. Only when I'm presenting symptoms of a toxin expulsion. Which appears to be happening about once a week that lasts for about 2 days.

I got blood work (they tested everything including thyroid, vit b, vit d) and I'm well.

Anybody else having these sort of symptoms I nearly recovery ? I'm 44 days sober from alcohell.

Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest seeing your doctor. Well or not, you're having signs of something. Best to check it out medically.

Try not to freak out, those symptoms could be literally hundreds of things, including anxiety. Still, best to go see the doctor, if it's anything, it's better to know. If not, happy days =)

It'll just be in your head then. I get really bad anxiety, it can cause the craziest symptoms.

It's normal to feel odd in early sobriety, mentally and physically. it's your body recovering and is a normal part of early recovery. It took us years to get into these states, we won't feel 100% better in a few weeks, though do feel much better than we did

PAWS usually comes later on 6 months-2 years into recovery,if at all.

I love it when I log on here and see you have made it another day Alpha. I didn't have any of those symptoms. PAWS for me came later and was of the mental variety. I finally understood when people say they drink "to quite their mind". After 3 months(right after a slip that ended with a 3 day acid assault on my stomach) I had a honeymoon period then the PAWS came in at month 4. You have talked to a doctor so I wouldn't be too worried. You said before anxiety is kind of your thing. Happy Birthday!

Hi Alpha congratulations on your sobriety! Did you mention these liver symptoms to your doctor when you went in for your blood check?

Could be anxiety, diet, or maybe a vitamin or supplement that you have started.

Lol ! No. And , unfortunately I know what you are talking about. . I think there's wood pulp in those bad boys. Yikes.

I told her about my weekly shenanigans with this. Even went to be as honest as the descriptive yuk factor. Se said the blood work would indicate if we had to look further. And since it didn't , and this is intermittent, I think I will proceed with business as usual. Ahem.

I know anxiety. Believe me, I'm the reigning queen compete with sash and tacky crown. This isn't that. When I trust my intuition, it feels like a further cleanse and healing.

Silent where would I be without your three little words ? Begging, borrowing and stealing. Xo

Maybe you are more aware of smells now that you have quit drinking. I think all of our senses are heightened and more clear once we quit.

All that is outside my PAWs experience.

anxiety can do a lot to us you may not recognise as anxiety.
Might be a good idea tho to get a second opinion on things if you're concerned?
