A reason to stay clean

A feeling we feel after we quit drinking.

Not needing water from the faucet.

GO!!!

Financial.

Not spending money on booze, not spending money on booze related nonsense, not spending money dealing with legal issues, not spending money replacing yet another cell phone lost while drunk. I could go on, but a serous drinking problem almost always means serious financial problems.

Not finding urine soaked oriental rug where I decided to pee in the middle of the night when I apparently couldn't find the bathroom.

There are so many privileges of sobriety - being able to choose my actions instead of blindly reacting to things - been one of those mornings so far....

Being present to my child. Almost ten lbs down with no effort. No more nausea. No more obsession tormenting me.

Not having to frantically clean up wine before it stains. Not waking up the next morning to see just how lousy a job I did cleaning up those same wine spills while I was drunk.

Not having to ask anyone what time I went to bed... Not having to check my phone and Internet history incase I let loose on anyone lol hmm loads. Being able to say 'I can't be bothered today' and not feeling guilty that its because I've a hangover. Being able to like myself. I don't like myself at all when I'm drinking. I don't like anything when I'm drinking. Everything's under a cloud.

First post for me. Just joined, although I'm on day 108.

I love this thread. There are so many things I could say, but if I have to choose just one:

It's that moment when I'm waking, coming to, when thinking about the day ahead, and NOT having the thought of when and where I'm going to get my first drink dominate my thoughts
