Six weeks and a birthday
I have six gratitude filled weeks of sobriety today.
Can't exactly quite believe the totality of everything I have encountered in 42 little 24 hour periods (numerical palindrome).
The ups are so high they are etherspheric. The lows so subterranean I have questioned if I'm standing at the gates of hell. I have begun to heal physically, mentally not so much.
I turn 44 tomorrow. I never understood when people lie about their age. I wear it as a badge of honor - STRIKE UP THE GOD DAMN BAND FOR CHRISTS SAKE I'VE MADE IT ANOTHER YEAR ! I dont care much for parties and pomp and circumstance and whatnot (I AM a Virgo after all) so I gently requested a quiet and personal day of reflection. My well meaning family and friends fussed over my request but they are all aware of my sobriety priority and what this means to me.
Im as serious as a heart attack and this time I mean business. There are no more escape clauses, exit strategies, or room for failure. And while this ain't my first time at the rodeo, it's the last time I'm riding this broken in wild mare back to the stables.
She's a trail horse now.

Your post was many things... welcome, witty and inspiring. With luck (and hard work), I hope to head into 44 (next year) with as much resolve as you.

Happy birthday ALPHA, I have to tell you I've noticed a change in you just from your posting!!!! One can only imagine how great your really doing in the real world! I hope this birthday brings you every bit of joy you deserve! Perhaps with some black nail varnish and eye shadow
