luckily the only part of 'everywhere' I need to be concerned with is the space between my bent elbow and my mouth, though at times policing that area can seem like 'everywhere', but its only about 15 inches so it really isn't that big.
Laws/legislation like Prohibition in the US were bad because they infringe on individual rights. In the same way institutionalized slavery, the idea of the Federal Reserve system, military draft ect. are 'bad' .

The anti-smoking crusade is in full force--no more cigarette commercials, most places going smoke free, etc. etc. Does this stop me from smoking? Heck no! I still smoke like a fiend.

Sure, why not? It's a social gathering, like any other social gathering. The attendees bearing gifts probably enjoy a glass of wine or two. Of course, the expectant mother shouldn't drink.
