So glad I found this forum
It's only been 32 hours since my last drink but I'm glad to have found this forum. This is the first time in 14 years I've quit with the intention of never drinking again. I've quit for periods of time before but always had the thought that if I can quit for awhile I must not be addicted. Now my dad is going to quit and I have an extra incentive to stick with it! I already feel better today. I had to take Benadryl last night to go to sleep but also listened to some meditation on YouTube and it helped my drift right off. I also wanted to mention some alternative treatments that I've tried before(to stay moderate, but that didn't work) that I'm hoping will help with my physical well being and stop the cravings when they come. I use therapeutic grade essential oils for just about everything in my life....there are several, including citrus oils, and clove that are supposed to stop cravings. they've helped some in the past but not enough to keep on drinking moderately. I'm hoping they help keep me from giving in. EFT is another good one.. It's self hypnosis basically. I'm going to give that a shot again, and start on a full plan to take a good b-complex, l-glutamine to help with cravings, and high quality vitamin c. I'm optimistic about all of it. Also, what exactly is the alcoholic voice? that's AV right?
Welcomke mama - i'm glad you found this place too. It's been invaluable to me during my recovery. AV/Acoholic Voice/Addictive voice can mean a lot of different things, but for the AVRT method of recover ( Check the secular forums for more info ) it's the beast or the voice in your head that tries to get you to drink. Even a lot of people who don't use AVRT use it to mean the same thing - the voice or demons inside us all that try to trick us back into drinking again.
Best of luck moving forward, sounds like you are doing all the right things to get started on Recovery.
