It's time a own up and put the drink down!
Hello,
I have been reading posts on this site for well over 2 months and they are very inspirational. I know I have a problem and need to correct this problem. I have been tapering off for the last 3 days. I would say 5 but had a pretty big binge on one day last week. I am a beer drinker. I do not drink the hard stuff. I learned a long time ago that it just makes me completely crazy. But, I have been drinking 4 to 9 beers a night for the last 5 or so years daily and before then was a bar fly nightly for a long time. I can't handle the anxiety nor the loss feeling when I don't have a beer in my hand. I am smarter than this. I currently am having a drink but, plan on tomorrow being my first day without. I just wanted to introduce myself and get it out there so I can dedicate my plan in an open forum. I'm scared as hell but, know I need to put this down!
Thanks for listening to a new comer!

Hi soulsurfer, glad you joined SR. Stock up on some non-alcoholic beverages tomorrow to qualm that feeling of loss about not having a beer in hand. I love the peach-pear La Croix or Pellegrino with lemon!

Wow! Thanks for the quick responses and support! This is the positivity that I believe I need to make this happen. I have tried in the past but, to no avail. I plan on just getting busy and staying busy. Gym, Bike riding, extra stuff around the house. Thanks again!
Welcome soulsurfer. You found a great place - I came here years ago & got hooked on the support & friendship. I never left.
Not being alone anymore meant so much to me. I had no one in my life to discuss the problem with. You say you're scared, but it's much scarier to continue down that dangerous road you've been traveling. You sound ready to get free of it - and we know you can.

Welcome, Soulsurfer! It is scary to quit. I promise that once you commit to sobriety the fear lessens considerably. I am new, too, but this community is amazingly supportive. Good luck tomorrow. Check in here frequently and let us know how you are doing!
