Need to find a Detox
AW - that's really impressive. I know many a person without the strength it takes to make the move you just made.
Things are going to be hard, but honest suffering is good suffering.
We all here are rooting for you.

The detox program I was in was no-cost, and pretty basic: just a safe place to get over withdrawals. There was very little teaching about recovery; we mostly watched TV. But there were optional nightly AA or NA meetings, and this was a good introduction to meetings because I used them when I got out. I know that you have expressed resistance to meetings, but the fact is that AA and NA are the most widely available face-to-face programs for sustaining recovery.
I wish you confidence that you will be on the right track when you get over the immediate withdrawal symptoms. I did not have this confidence; my first night home there was no meeting and I did not know that the meetings would be enough to keep me sober. But what I learned in detox--to keep the best and skip the rest--was all that I needed to turn meetings into the cornerstone of my sobriety.

But you're not! We are right there in spirit. August you ARE going to get through this. Get every ounce of courage you have and fight for that kid inside you. Today is going to be a hard day but one that can free you from so much pain! Lay your head and rest and let them do their job! For right now your care is in their hands and they know what's best for you. There are a whole lot of us on SR holding your virtual hand!

AW, I'm very proud of you. Everyone, EVERYONE, is afraid to go to detox, especially if it's for the first time. What I can tell you is it's not as scary inside after the first day. You'll be with people in the same position as you that you'll be able to talk to one on one and during groups. For me, it got to the point where I really treasured my time in detox. I found it so helpful to get the encouragement, the tools I needed to stay sober, and the comradery amungst all of us going through this struggle.
You are doing the right thing, we're all rooting for you
