Something That Makes the Notion of Sobriety a Little Easier

I havent drank anything in 10 months. I had a brain injury back in October and I was told that to maximize healing, I shouldn't drink alcohol for a year. I signed up for that without argument.

As I consider the question of what happens after a year's up, I can spin myself into a bit of a tizzy. But then, this morning, I realized something:

If I accept the fact (which I do) that I can never get drunk again, and the only "safe" drinking for me is one or two drinks, one or two nights a week, my reaction to that is ... what's the point of that? Moderation, by definition, means one doesn't get drunk.

So all you're really giving up, if you're being totally honest with yourself, a bunch of extra carbs.

"One day I walked into a store and saw a little bottle of Jack Daniel's." "And then that voice goes, 'Hey. Just a taste. Just one.' I drank it, and there was that brief moment of 'Oh, I'm OK!' But it escalated so quickly." Within a week, "I was buying so many bottles I sounded like a wind chime walking down the street."

I agree. When I read posts from people(and I've done it myself) saying I'd just have 1drink-can't do any harm? Hell, when did I ever just have ONE drink. What's the point :c029:

Interestingly enough, that is my motivation in sobriety in a nutshell.

I want to heal my mind, my spirit, my body..my everything.
