I just had a seizure....scared do I go to hospital
MN8 - We can't give out med advice on here and I've been away for a few days, so didn't see any posts from anyone.
As a nurse... I know not ALL rashes are eczema... and not all seizures are alcohol related mate. No harm in getting yourself checked out. It's SO easy to assume 'alcohol is the cause', but what harm would it do to get checked out huh? an hour? ... come on

$800? I hope anyone reading this from the UK appreciates the NHS!
Without giving out med advice, I WOULD suspect that you trust your gut reaction with this. (especially if it's happened b4 under similar circumstances)
800? shocked!

I don't know if this appropriate, but it seems everyone has a lot of experience/knowledge...what if I gave you the ER's number that I called? Just curious if they need more training for someone that may really be in trouble and doesn't have the resources I have, car, computer, phone, etc....all I did was call and ask for ER and told them the above you can read in my posts..... and I asked to be connected to the ER

Yes, my Psyc is a MD but gives me my Rx for Zanax so need to tread lightly in that area...and yes, $800 is probably low...if you don't have decent insurance here you are screwed and it goes on your credit report.
I think you should go to the ER and SEE a doc.Who knows who you spoke with over the phone-prob not a doc
very true Zoe.I get so annoyed when people criticize the NHS (not on here of course,in real life) From reading peoples stories on SR in other countries people in the UK just don't know how lucky they are

MN - healtcare is expensive to be certain. But I think arguing about it or worrying about who is training ER employess should be the very least of your worries right now. Your life could literally be in danger, even if you feel better currently. Seizures from withdrawal are VERY serious business. Call your regular doctor if you don't want to go to the ER or call a walk in clinic or somethign...but sitting home and arguing about other topics here is not a very wise choice at this point. Get help please.

Hey MN. I have all sort of concerns here. You just lost a sobriety recently right? Did you detox through a facility before? If not, what was that detox like for you. How many days were you sober? What sort of support are you utilizing in all this? You have a psych? Is this new or have you been seeing psych awhile? Are you utilizing AA or just SR as peer support? Do you have any friends/family in recovery you can talk to/see face to face?
Also you mentioned something bout going to school. Does your school have a health/medical center?

I see my pysc only for meds, and my support is here...I am in school full time and work nights (which I have been calling in sick) from 11 to 7 am....I just have to get it back together, take a shower and get this house cleaned and stop buying vodka!!! And yes, my sober date was 8/17 and started using over the memorial holiday one bottle just led to another which led to days of drinking and trying to keep everything together and now it has feel apart and no, my whole family drinks so they don't really understand even tho they have issues, they are able to get drunk on the weekends and still go about life as usual, when I go it's for days.....

I just turned 40, going back to college to get my masters....just graduated in June with my sign language degree...things were going well, however, was still drinking when I could get a day in...I just messed up over the holiday weekend and went to far this time....just trying to get out now...I just called the school they said email all my professors...what do I tell them?? Ugh..anyway, that's what I am, an older return to school student....
None of this changes the fact that you just had a seizure, or at least you think you did. Cleaning the house and taking a shower won't prevent another one from occurring. At the very least you absolutely have to let someone know what is going on if you live alone so they can monitor you and get you to the hospital ASAP if something should happen - it's only been just over 2 hours since the incident. I'd still recommend seeing a doctor as soon as you possibly can.

MN8 - get yourself sorted man - as I said, this might not be about the drink - its can happen, that the drink just exaggerates what is there in the first place!
I am a reg'd nurse and sorry mods if I've said to much.
