Try not to get upset guys. As we all know, alcohol can mess with your emotions and responses. Maybe he's responding from an alcoholic place. That doesn't give him any less right for help as someone who has become fearful, full of self-loathing or angry because of drinking.
And some people already have certain disorders. That again gives them just as much right for help as anyone else, even though their behaviors are different.
It's only futile if we don't get anywhere, at which point the best thing we can do is to let them go with the best advice we can give. But I can hardly call 6 pages in a thread the point where we can tell if it's futile or not.
And yeah, there's the possibility that it's just someone trying to mess around with us. Pretending to be someone. Then there's also the incredibly more important possibility that this person needs and, and that we can help.
If it's someone messing around, I don't care. I won't have any emotional attachment to it (shrugs).
The only mistake you can make is to get sucked into it and allow yourself to get emotional/angry/etc. about it. If you really want to help, you need a neutral, observing state and just don't get affected unnecessarily.
And as Dee said, you can always choose to ignore. So let's keep this thread focused on helping and if what you intend to post isn't meant to help, let it go.
