Well the NHS psychiatric referral has said "bear with us" so in this zone...6 months at least.

Hopefully there will just be a flicker in my brain where I suddenly become optimistic.

Well, I'm pulling for you. I do hope that you can do something before 6 months because this is really taking a toll on your physical and mental health. Keep reading posts in the newcomer's forum. That helped me so much when I got here and still spend hours a day reading. There are loads of people on SR from the UK, so maybe you'll come across a solution to detox sooner rather than later.

Lol well in the name of personal discovery I'm sure it would be allowed jet I was going to say good morning but I doubt you'll be awake...yknow despite your demons best efforts I see a glimmer of hope in you. I think you need to stamp your feet a bit and make yourself heard. Stopping drinking as you know is dangerous - and by the sounds of it you've built up quite a high tolerance - you need to in my opinion present yourself to a doctor and ask them as nicely as you can muster to help you please that you want to stop drinking but the DTs you experience make it nearly impossible for you.

They might want you as an inpatient but most cases they will give you medication. Have you anyone who could go with you and say that they will keep an eye on you for a week or so? That's what I had to do. I'd to pretend my sister was going to look after my Medicine for me and be with me.
