2 years.
2 years.
Today marks 2 years of an alcohol-free life for me.
My son is now 14 months old and runnning around the flat with his hands in everything. He never has and never will see his daddy drunk.
When I think back to how things were . . .
I am utterly grateful for everything I have and try to take nothing for granted.
I had to get myself sober, but doubt that it would have happened without SR.
An incredible place, populated by some extraordinary people.
Thanks.

Your post makes me so happy. The difference in your sons life will be dramatic, truly night and day. He will have a Father who is present, whose moods are not dictated by a bottle. A childhood with an alcoholic parent is never a pretty sight, but a childhood with a parent who is interested, engaged, and sober makes everything possible. School, Scouts, Little League, soccer and science fairs...these are all activities that are part of a little boys life, activities that require a responsible, together parent. You are to be commended for putting him first.
I found that after two years, sobriety became very natural to me. Things got easier, steadier, happier. I hope you find the same peace. Congratulations!

Congratulations on your two year mark! That is wonderful news! I remember struggling through a minute, a day, a month...a year, I thougt would be an impossible feat. I never thought I'd be able to do it. It isn't easy, but you are living proof it can be done. Life isn't always easy, but it is easier to cope with while sober. That is one thing I know for certain. Again, congrats!
