Liver results normal now!

Hi guys I have been off the plonk 7 weeks now and things are looking up - back at work, sleeping better and eating like a horse. Relationships with family and work now better.
When I came off the drink I saw my doctor 7 weeks ago and told her I was a binge drinker and drinking often by myself mainly at weekends. 2 bottles of vodka and douzens of cans of lager at weekends. I went for a blood test and my ALT readings came back as 403 when it should be below 45! I was advised to be abstinent and have a fresh set done in a few weeks. I went to AA every night and got my life back on track. I got my fresh results back this week and my ALT is now 16 which my doc says is good news and there is no advanced damage to my liver.
I had given it a good pounding with drink so was lucky!
I have learnt though not to use this as an excuse thinking "my liver results are now normal so I can drink again". I know I cannot even have one drink. If I have one my mind keeps chasing that Euphoric feeling and tells me to have more. Before I know it I will lose control for days on end.
Not becoming complacent is the key and I will continue to attend AA. I am now keeping life simple and not trying to do 100 things at once.
Thanks for all your support online to date as well.:thanks

Hi Bigbobby, that is excellent news. I had a similar experience. When I was drinking my liver tests were barely acceptable for me to have a surgery on my neck. After one year, I had them checked and they were good too. It really is amazing how the body can heal. Congratulations on 7 weeks. Well done. I agree the key is to remember how sick we were. To never forget. SR is a great place. Stick around. :c011:
