I find joy in everything!
I lost that for a long time while walking in the shadow of alcoholism.
But,mostly when I do a job right/well done(sober) and it comes out looking nice. Home or at work.
And getting a few compliments (but not necessary) helps.

I love waking up in the morning without a hangover
Having a shower is wonderful ,
I love to sing and do it all the time , everywhere i go .
I like listening to music , heavy metal (especially halford) across to dvorak ,
I like playing my guitars ( 2 solid electric one semi and one nylon accoustic and a electric bass )
I like playing my synthesisers , a wierd squarking whoosh , or spacey sounds or jungle beats .
I like to read , gutenberg or normal books , thousands of them ..
I love to paint when in the mood, usually freaky cats like louis wain .
I like to see all my SR friends getting clean and sober and making better choices and hopefully lives
I like to fix big machines at work and design software that is elegant .
I like to laugh and watch comedy films from the 30's UK & American , i like to watch billy connolly on u-tube .
I like being able to phone my family sober .
I like being able to pay my bills ,
I like being able to drive my car anytime and never have to worry about police .
I like yummy food ,

Lot's more i'm sure

Sober 2 years ...and i dont know how i'm going to fit everything into one sober life !

Bestwishes, m

I agree with Dee, joy finds us. I have it by the bucketload.

Thank you for a great topic,

Warren

I abandoned a very young mother with 2 toddlers and an infant. It was over twenty years and many 9th step amends...and continuous daily amends...that I finally felt relief from shame and guilt....

Today and for the last many years I have been able to look over photographs of them, read old letters, and keep up with them as grown men...

and sincerely feel JOY!

Thanks Pippo for a great thread...and thanks for all the cool answers!!
  • Listening to music...when drunk I listened to the lyrics
  • Air guitar while hopping around...
  • I danced for hours on Sunday eve at a wedding reception...
  • Playing golf with no hangover...rarely drank & golfed, but at times sure felt like crap.
  • Looking forward to and attending AA meetings...
  • Socializing with new AA friends...I am starting a bowling league soon
  • Early day productivity...like what I do for a living and love working by 6AM,,,most of the time, today was an exception
  • Reading at bedtime...
  • Listening to books on CD again
  • Cooking with all the fresh veggies and summer fruit
  • Oh, getting ready for some Football

When I realized that God loved me so much that he sent Jesus to die in my place for my sins. And now I will not be seperated from God for all eternity because of my past, present and future.

That is when I found joy. The peace that surpasses all understanding.

I like this thread. It makes me think back to sobriety. I was addicted to exercise 4% body fat, amazing bldy, great libido, runners high, playing sports not just cracking beers watching them. All thing I look forward to getting back to. Plus I have a son now haven't been sober in his lifetime. While i still have a lot of fun with him I look forward to waking up earlier, getting my day started with him before 11 am. Now I get up when he gets up get him food and lay around feeling like crap until about noon. Can't wait to have more energy to give him more of my attention before I have a beer to feel normal. I'm not currently sober but this is my list of what I hope to enjoy in sobriety. oh and healthy liver hopefully.
